World War 1 spurred development of many different aircraft types based on over-battlefield need. This gave rise to fighters and bombers and, from this, arrived sub-groupings to cover reconnaissance, interceptors and the like. Today, the multirole aircraft has redefined the military warplane by providing nearly a single source for all of the over-battlefield needs required by warplanners. This page has been organized to provide better access to the various sections of this website (where the total record count numbers above 5,000 individual entries). Major and minor categories are presented below in Alphabetical (A-Z) order. Subgroups tied to a parent category follow their parent topic.
