2nd Generation Fighter Aircraft

The 2nd Generation Fighter filled the global air service requirements seen during the middle of the 1950s to the beginning of the 1960s.

The Second Generation Fighter aircraft label covers those developments originating in the middle of the 1950s and leading into the beginning of the 1960s. These entries had limited supersonic flight capabilities with weapons centered primarily on guns and some early-form missile support. Pinnacle designs of this period include the Northrop F-5 'Freedom Fighter' and the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 'Fishbed'.
