Kilo-class
Though entering service in 1982, the Kilo-class is still in use by the Russian Navy among other operators world-wide.
By Staff Writer
The Kilo-class submarine was laid down by the Central Design Bureau for Marine Engineering and officially commissioned in 1982. Only some 16 remain in avtive service of the 57 or so constructed during its production run. The Kilo is set to be replaced by the Lada-class submarine currently undergoing sea trials (as of this writing).
