The Shaher-14.5 heavy rifle was debut by Iran in 2012. Its battlefield role is that of Anti-Material Rifle (AMR) with a primary focus on defeating light armored vehicles as well as low-flying aircraft. The 14.5mm cartridge also holds penetration capabilities against enemies behind fortifications. The weapon features an engagement range out to four kilometers, sports an overall length of six feet, and weighs a hefty 50 pounds. A bipod assembly is used for supporting the front end of the weapon and an optics set is featured over the receiver. A later revision to the design has introduced a section of Picatinny rail to allow use of various optics fits including night scopes. The Shaher-14.5 is to be fielded along with another new Iranian heavy rifle - the 23mm Baher-23.©MilitaryFactory.com
