The Remington Model 7600 was a pump-action rifle appearing during the latter stages of the Cold War period in America. Its primary focus was on hunting and sport shooting but variants were eventually introduced to satisfy law enforcement use. The gun was introduced in 1981 by Remington Arms with production continuing even today (2023), such has been the popularity of this rifle design.

The overall configuration of the long gun mimicked that of a traditional hunting rifle or shotgun. The shape was given an integrated grip handle joining the shoulder stock and frame with the barrel seated over the ammunition cylinder, itself partly shrouded by the hand-actuated pump-action slide component. Sighting devices were set over the forend and the muzzle. The trigger sat under the frame of the rifle with an oblong ring. The gun accepted a 4-round detachable box magazine. Overall weight was 7.5lb with an overall length of 42.6" and a barrel measuring 22" long.

The gun was eventually offered in a slew of caliber types ranging from .243WIN and .270WIN to .223REM and .308WIN.

The original "Model 7600" form appeared in 1981 with its walnut stock finish. In 1987, the shortened carbine model was introduced with its 18.5" barrel assembly and chambering in .30-06 as the "Model 7600 Carbine". It wasn't until 1998 that the company released the synthetic form as the aptly-designated "Model 7600 Synthetic" complete with an all-black matte finish. From 1993 until 1994, the "Model 7600 Special Purpose" was sold and this version featured both a non-glare finish along its walnut stock length as well as a matte black finish. In 2002, the Model 7600P Patrol Rifle was offered in .300WIN for law enforcement. The "Model 7615 Police Patrol Rifle" followed in .223REM with the primary distinction being its support of STANAG-style magazines; the barrel measuring just 16.5 inches long in this model.
