CNS Zhuzhou (639) is an all-modern surface combatant of the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) service of China. She belongs to the Jiangdao-class (Type 056A) group and carries the name of the Chinese city of Zhuzhou. The vessel was launched on November 30th, 2013 and formally commissioned into PLAN service on November 28th, 2014. It maintains an active standing in the fleet today (2023).

The hull number of 594 has also been associated with CNS Zhuzhou.

The Type 056 class is a massive group in the PLAN inventory and some of the stock have been built for allies in Bangladesh and Nigeria. The Chinese Coast guard also employs the type for close-to-shore / Blue Water operations. Construction of the group began in 2012 making these relatively modern additions to the fleet. Work on the series ended in 2021 with 72 total hulls completed for the aforementioned customers.

The vessel has a stealthy-like appearance with smooth slab sides and a blended hull-superstructure approach. The hull line is unbroken from bow to stern and protrusions are kept to a minimum. The overall profile of the ship if low. The deck turret sits over the forecastle in the traditional way with the bridge section immediately aft and over this emplacement. The main mast is of an enclosed pyramidal design and is seated ahead of the enclosed, low-profile smoke funnels. The aft-superstructure section, seating various sensors, processing systems, and weaponry, houses a full-service hangar which leads out to the helicopter pad.

The warship displaces 1,500 tons and has a running length of 90 meters with a beam of 11.14 meters and a draught down to 4 meters. Propulsion is via 2 x SEMT Pielstick PA6-STC diesel motors giving the vessel a top ocean-going speed of 25 knots out to a range of 3,500 nautical miles. Aboard is a crew of 60 to 78 personnel.

Installed systems include SR64 air-surface search radar, TR47 Fire Control Radar (FCR). Armament is 1 x 76mm AK-176 turreted deck gun over the forecastle, 2 x Twin-cell YJ-84 anti-ship missiles at midships, 1 x 8-cell HQ-10 Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) launcher, 2 x 324mm Triple-torpedo tubes, and 2 x 30mm automatic cannons for close-in defense.

Over the rear of the ship is supported a single Kamov Ka-28 (or similar) navalized helicopter for over-the-horizon work.
