In many ways World War 2 was an extension of the fighting of World War 1 and involved many of the same global participants with a few allies realigned. For the ground war, it was the tank that continued to take center stage and this instrument of warfare was heavily refined by the time the fighting started. In a short period of time, the tactics that were used in World War 1 were thrown out the window and all-new, more mobile tactics brought about by the Germans and their fabled Blitzkrieg were brought into play. Before the end, the world was introduced to the Main Battle Tanks thanks, once again, to British engineering.
