The Model 82 was a rifle series produced by the Parker-Hale company of Birmingham (a gunsmithing firm was already famous for its lineage of successful sporting rifles). The system features a one-piece, epoxy resin-coated wooden stock, floating barrel and separate trigger component. The butt was fully adjustable and a variety of mission-specific scope systems could be mounted. A silent safety feature was also added to prevent accidental firing. The Parker-Hale Model 82 is known to have been in use in the sniper role by Canada and Australian forces (later replaced in Aussie service with the Accuracy International AW).
