The Spartan APC can carry a squad of five combat-ready troops. By Staff Writer
The Alvis Spartan is a variant of the Alvis Scorpion CVR(T) and Starstreak APC systems. Initially it served to carry the Javelin surface to air missile system but has since been adopted to serve a variety of battlefield (anti-tank and air defense) and peacekeeping roles. The Spartan is fully amphibious and is operated by a crew of three. More importantly, the Spartan needs only a crew of two and the armored personnel variant can provide transportation for up to five combat-equipped soldiers. The system has seen action as recently as the Bosnian Conflict.
