The NORINCO (NORth china INdustries COrporation) QBU-10 serves the modern People's Liberation Army Ground Force (PLANGF) and Marine units in the anti-material / anti-armor role. It is a squad-level, long-ranged sniper solution intended to disable key components of armored vehicles or - in extreme circumstances - enemy personnel behind cover. The rifle is chambered for the Soviet-era 12.7x108mm Heavy Machine Gun (HMG) cartridge fed from a 5-round detachable box magazine. The cartridge dates back to 1935 and is a proven battlefield performer comparable to the American 0.50 BMG (12.7x99mm NATO) offering.

At present (2024), the QBU-10 is used alongside three other anti-material solutions: the QBU-99, QBU-201, and the AMR-2 all chambered in the same 12.7x108mm cartridge.

In the Chinese Army inventory, the rifle is designated by the familiar "QBU-10" marker though an export version carries the "NSG-127" designator. In Chinese service, the rifle is a contemporary of the American Barret M82 anti-material series seeing operational service the world-over. Only Turkmenistan has adopted the Chinese product.

The rifle saw design work take place in 2006 to which serial production then followed in 2009. Service entry took place in 2010.

The rifle fires from a hybrid gas-operated, rotating bolt, short-recoil / short-stroke piston arrangement through a semi-automatic system. Muzzle velocity reaches 2,706 feet-per-second with an effective firing range out to 1,500 meters (maximum range is achieved at 2,000 meters. The gun is arranged in a conventional fashion with optics set over the receiver to aid in accurized fire. The magazine feed is ahead of the pistol grip / trigger unit and a shoulder stock is presented with the usual padding and adjustability options. A carrying handle is set at the folding bipod which is seated at the over-barrel gas cylinder. The free-floating barrel assembly, measuring 30.7 inches long, extends forward and is capped by a massive, single-baffle muzzle brake.

Due to the sheer size and weight of the rifle, a monopod support is fitted at the shoulder stock to compliment the folding bipod assembly ahead of center mass. Overall length of the weapon reaches 54.3 inches.

The rifle is typically equipped with the YMA09 8x scope that includes a ballistics computer for precision at-range. The system also includes a laser range-finder to achieve optimal results. The QMH-151A thermal daylight scope is also featured.
