The Warfighter / Infantry Combat
The self-contained firearm changed everything about how wars are fought - and continues to dominate the battlefields of today.
The foot soldier maintains a certain authority over success and failure on the battlefield. The gun, a self-contained projectile-firing weapon, changed the warzone forever when it was introduced in its various perfected forms. Today, the gun, and related infantry-level weapons, still reign supreme across the world despite advances made in aerial and vehicular firepower. Ground cannot be taken by machines alone and the foot soldier remains the most important cog in place to assure commanders, warplanners and politicians the total victory.
