The semi-automatic shotgun has been was a welcomed departure from earlier single- and twin-barreled forms. A semi-automatic feature implied one trigger pull for every round fired which allowed for greater ammunition capacities and general accuracy through multiple slugs fired. The Origin-12 Tactical Shotgun product, in the same category as the popular Russian-made Saiga-12, was released in 2014 as another Kalashnikov-based semi-automatic shotgun offering. It is intended for military, law enforcement and sport shooting markets. A years-long development phase was handled by Alliance Armament with Fostech Arms handling its production.

As a Kalashnikov-based weapon, the Origin-12 utilizes a proven gas-operated action and magazine-fed system. A last-round bolt hold-open feature proves handy and the weapon is internally coated in nickel Teflon for in-the-field robustness and reliability. External finishes range from All-Hard Black, Hard Black with internal Hard Nickel and All-Hard Nickel. A Quick Change barrel function helps to prevent overheating and fracturing. A folding stock aids in compactness and also allows firing from its folded position. Multiple grip types are supported and the thumb safety is ambidextrous and ergonomic. An integrated dust cover protects the vital internals of the weapon in dusty and dirt-ridden environments. The charging handle is set to the upper left side of the receiver and is attached to the lightweight carrier and bolt assembly. Rail sections allow for the fitting of accessories and are backed by traditional flip-up iron sights.

A standard 5-round detachable magazine is the basic feed box while there are also 8- and 10-round magazine counts available. Beyond this, 20- and 30-round drum magazines are also part of the Origin-12 product line.©MilitaryFactory.com
