The Walther P99 is a .22LR (rimfire) semi-automatic, blowback-operated pistol offering from Carl Walther GmbH of Germany. It is a largely conventional and traditional semi-automatic handgun design with pistol grip ergonomics, rectangular slide assembly (ribbed at front and back for better grip of the unit), and over-frame forward and rear iron sights. The typical Walther pistol "chunkiness" is apparent in this compact firearm. The trigger sits at the middle of the gun's length and the magazine well is the pistol grip handle itself. The ejection port is seated at the middle of the frame.

Production of the pistol began in 2002 and continues today (2023).

The gun breaks down into five major components comprised of the slide, spring, barrel assembly, lower frame, and magazine. Ten-rounds are held in the spring-loaded magazine. Safety mechanisms are integrated in both manual and automatic forms.

The company currently markets the P22Q and P22CA ("California") models in the lineup. Both are available in a variety of finishes / configurations including "Nickel", "Laser Set" (with under-muzzle laser aimer), tactical-style "FDE", "Angel Blue" (lower blue, slide silver), "Military" (lower OD Green, upper black), and "Tactical FDE" (muzzle attachment). The CA adds the "Target Nickel" and "Target Black" models with extended muzzle component.©MilitaryFactory.com
