Introduced in 1995 by Brazilian gun-maker Taurus International, the Model 605 was another entry in the small, compact revolver handgun market. The short barrel common to such weapons became known as "snubnosed" which indicated a barrel length of no more than 3 inches. Such compact dimensions allowed these guns to prove popular in circles where concealment was a job necessity.

Unlike the traditional revolver, the Model 605 featured a five-round cylinder which assisted the sidearm in maintaining its compact shape. One feature of the handgun included the Taurus-standard key-actuated locking system, rendering the pistol useless to thieves while another incorporated a transfer bar mechanism to keep the hammer from falling against the firing pin unless the trigger was completely pulled back. Other facets were highly conventional such as the solid frame (in stainless or blued finish), rubber-covered grip, and oblong trigger ring. The weapon came in Single-Action (SA) and Double-Action (DA) forms and chambered for .38 Special or .357 Magnum cartridges. Sights were fixed. Muzzle velocity was rated at 1,450 feet per second.

The Model 605 lives on today through several offerings including the Model 605B2, the Model 605PLYSS2, the Model 605SS2, and the Model 605B2.©MilitaryFactory.com
