The Star M series of handguns continued the line of Spanish-made, Browning M1911-based semi-automatic handguns that began in the post-World War 1 (1914-1918) years. Into the 1980s a new modern line was introduced that was headed by the Star 30M. This double-action sidearm utilized a slide-in-rail approach for improved accuracy. An ambidextrous safety was installed and construction was largely of steel. The related Model 30PK brought along a lightweight alloy-based frame instead.

The Star Model 30M/30PK lines were adopted by the police and army of Spain and taken into inventory by security elements and local police of Peru.

The weapon was chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum which fed through a 15-round detachable box magazine inserted into the grip handle. The 30M was just a smidgeon over 8" inches in overall length while relying on a 4.7" long barrel assembly. The 30PK measured 7.6" long and had a 3.86" long barrel. Muzzle velocity was slightly elevated in the 30M at 1,250 feet-per-second compared to the 1,200 feet-per-second offered by the shorter 30PK series.

The Model 30 line first appeared in the mid-1980s.©MilitaryFactory.com
