The Model 96 Falcon is a bolt-action, large caliber anti-material rifle firing the 12.7mm cartridge. The system is designed to engage lightly armored vehicles but can equally engage human targets with destructive results. The system is one in the line of many new heavy caliber weapon systems firing the .50 caliber round, once reserved solely for the domain of the machine gun.

The Model 96 Falcon is of a Czech design and appeared in an initial form with the OPV. This system was designed to fire either the Browning .50 caliber round or the Russian DshK round from the same barrel. After developmental work continued, it was found that the system could operate better with each cartridge firing from specialized barrels. As such, the production models of the now-designated Model 96 were issued with two barrels.

Operation is handled by a bolt-action lever mounted on the right-hand side of the weapon system. A standard 10x40 optic scope is afforded the user and the butt is completely detachable from the main unit. The 12.7mm ammunition can be fed from a 5-round detachable box magazine or by hand. A noticeable muzzle break is mounted at barrel's end and a foldable bipod system is attached to the main part of the barrel. The barrel itself can be replaced by engaging screws and a lever.©MilitaryFactory.com
