In the growing category of Anti-Material Rifles (AMRs), RPA International (RPA Precision Ltd) of Britain produces the RPA "Rangemaster 50" as an all-modern solution. AMRs have become critical battlefield components designed to defeat armor and fortifications at range, cutting clean through engine blocks and concrete, while also being used to outright destroying crucial systems on armored vehicles or engage targets stubbornly dug-in behind cover. The rifle is wholly conventional in its design form and operates through the proven manually-actuated bolt action arrangement for both control and inherent reliability. The rifle system is chambered in 12.7x99 NATO (50 BMG) Heavy Machine Gun (HMG) cartridge suitable (and equally proven) for counter-armor actions.

The Rangemaster 50 was introduced in 2005 and counts the Bangladesh Army as one of its notable global operators.

In the rifle's configuration, the pistol grip is ergonomic and angled rearwards and integrates with the trigger section under the frame. The large magazine well is situated just head and accepts a 10-round detachable box magazine as its ammunition feed. The action sits above the magazine with the oversized ejection port clearly identified along the right side of the body. The bolt action handle sits along the same side and aft of the ejection port. The forend runs under a portion of the long barrel assembly which is capped by a multi-slotted brake to help contend with the massive recoil effects of firing such a powerful round. At the extreme end of the forend is installed a hinged, folding bipod assembly. The receiver has a length of Picatinny rail over it to seat all manner of scopes and optics to provide the needed accurized fire-at-range for the shooter. Shorter rail sections are noted at the 3- and 9-o'clock positions as well as under the shoulder stock. The shoulder stock itself is relatively lightweight and adjustable complete with a buttpad for user comfort in-the-field.

The "Rangemaster" name applies to a family of weapon systems marketed by RPA including a 7.62mm NATO (including a subsonic-firing alternative) and .338 tactical bolt-action rifle.©MilitaryFactory.com
