The SC-76 "Thunderbolt" is an original 7.62x51mm NATO bolt-action rifle offering promoted by Steel Core Designs of the United Kingdom. This long gun is marketed alongside the related SC-87 "Thunderbolt" which chambers the 0.338 Lapua Magnum NATO cartridge instead and features slightly different overall specs as a result. At its core, the SC-76 is a no-frills, all-in-one precision rifle system capable of handling the rigors of the modern battlefield through exceptional accuracy-at-range and a high degree of modularity.

The base arrangement of the rifle is conventional: the polymer-coated frame is hardened for field abuse with the forend slotted and sporting Picatinny accessory rails at the 12-, 3-, 6-, and 9-o'clock positions. The fluted barrel assembly protrudes a distance ahead of the forend and is capped by a slotted brake. Under the muzzle is a hinged, forward-folding bipod assembly. The pistol grip is ergonomic and angled to the rear with the oversized trigger loop (surrounding the two-stage trigger) ready to accept a gloved hand. The magazine well sits just ahead of the action and tucks nearly completely into the frame. With the extraction port sitting above the magazine well, the bolt handle can be found directly aft and within easy reach. Safety controls (2-point safety) are featured along the side of the frame - also within easy reach. The monopod-equipped (with its own quick release feature) shoulder stock extends aft and is adjustable (at the cheekrest, length, and butt pad height) while hinged to fold over the frame for ease-of-transport. The buttplate is adjustable to suit operator needs in-the-field.

Over the main part of the receiver is a section of Picatinny rail for the mounting of various optics including both day and night sets. The top rail measures a useful 600mm long overall.

The barrel assembly is of match-grade quality designed with heat dissipation in mind. Threading allows a suppressor to be fitted for clandestine operations. The standard muzzle brake is utilized to reduce the recoil of the full-powered cartridge - thus aiding accuracy.

The 7.62mm cartridges are fed from a spring-loaded 10-round magazine.

Overall weight of the complete system is 15.7lb. Overall length is 47" for the long-barreled form and 41" for the short-barreled form. Barrel lengths are 20" and 26", respectively. Both versions come in a black and dark earth finish with the aforementioned muzzle brake, bipod, a field tool kit, and field cleaning kit. Optics are optional as is a sling, sound suppressor, drag bag, and waterproof hard case.
