The BOF BD-08 is the standard assault rifle of the modern Bangladeshi infantry Warfighter. It is essentially the Chinese-originated Type 81 assault rifle (detailed elsewhere on the Military Factory) produced locally, under license, through Bangladesh Ordnance Factories (BOF) of Bangladesh. The gun has been in serial production since 2008 and is fielded alongside the older Chinese Type 56 and newer Russian AK-15 rifles in the Bangladeshi inventory.

The gun retains all of the form and function of its Chinese counterpart. It is chambered in the ubiquitous 7.62x39mm cartridge fed from a 30-round curved detachable magazine inserted ahead of the pistol grip. The rifle has a rectangular, hardened receiver capable of mounting various modern optics for accurized fire at-range. The handguard is of the two-piece variety and slotted for barrel cooling. The gas cylinder sits atop the barrel in the typical Kalashnikov style. The shoulder stock is of the wire type and has a hinge for folding over to promote compactness of the weapon system.

The BD-08 is produced alongside another Chinese infantry-level solution, the BD-15 Light Machine Gun (LMG) which is the Chinese Type 81's offshoot of the Type 81 assault rifle.©MilitaryFactory.com
