Introduced in 2005, the WKW Wilk ("Wolf") is an all-modern Polish-originated heavy-caliber sniper rifle. It utilizes a manually-actuated bolt-action system pulling .50 BMG cartridges from a spring-loaded seven-round detachable box magazine. It is arranged in a bull-pup configuration, keeping the action and feed aft of the pistol grip and trigger unit, while retaining a full-length rifle barrel assembly. A large, multi-slotted muzzle brake is fitted to the barrel and the shoulder stock at the rear supports a cheek rest and shoulder pad. An adjustable bipod assembly supports the frontal weight of the weapon while a monopod is used for the rear (this support also made adjustable). Design of the gun is attributed to Zaklady Mechaniczne Tarnow.

The rifle is also known under the name of "Tor" by the Polish Army - representing "Wielkokalibrowy Karabin Wyborowy", translating to "Large Caliber Sniper Rifle".

Overall weight of the system reaches 16 kilograms and overall length measures 1,350mm. The barrel assembly is 880mm long and fluted along its length. The rifle is equipped with the Schmidt & Bender X3-12 P/MII telescope sighting device which gives accuracy for ranged fire. This is mounted over the receiver in the usual way by way of a typical Picatinny accessories rail system. Another section of rail is seated over the edge of the forend.

Performance figures include a muzzle velocity of 2,900 feet-per-second and an effective range out to 3,000 meters.

About 150 of the guns have been produced to date (2018) with the Polish Army being the recipient of eighty or so of these. Other operators include Saudi Arabia and Vietnam having purchased 15 and 50 units, respectively.
