The Ruger SR is a line of semi-automatic handguns introduced by Sturm, Ruger & Company in 2007. At its core it is a conventional sidearm and developed with concealed-carry in mind. It has been released in several model offerings as well as chamberings to suit customer requirements.

Internally, the gun operates through a short-recoil, locked breech arrangement. Its primary chambering is 9x19mm Parabellum though models are also offered in .40 S&W and .45 ACP. The guns feed from a 9-, 10-, 15- or 17-round detachable box magazine depending on chambering. Sights are adjustable (three-dot iron type) and after-market accessories broaden the tactical value of the weapon to an extent.

The original SR model was the SR9 of 2007 and this came in 9x19mm Parabellum with 17-round detachable box magazine. This was followed in early 2010 by the SR9c, a more compact model. In late-2010 arrived the SR40 in .40 S&W and the SR40c was its compact brethren arriving around mid-2011. The SR45, as its designation suggests, was chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge and announced in early 2013. The SR9e became an "economy" version of the SR9 and this form was brought about in 2014.

Beyond the various chamberings offered, the weapon can see varying barrel lengths fitted which alter overall length and weight of the sidearm. On the whole, the pistol is well-received and reliable, continuing the long-standing Ruger tradition in the small arms market.
