Detailing the development and operational history of the CSGC QX-04 (CS/LP6) Semi-Automatic Service Pistol.  Entry last updated on 7/31/2017. Authored by Staff Writer. Content ©
As it stands today (2017), the modern Chinese Army (People's Liberation Army = PLA) showcases no fewer than ten accepted semi-automatic handgun types. This includes the locally-designed, developed and produced QX-04 series used by both the Army and several police units of China. The overseeing brand label of the product is China South Industries Group Corporation and manufacturing began in 2011.

Outwardly, the QX-04 offers a most modern appearance. It has a full-length slide component over the barrel and action that is ribbed for better management. The slide also showcases iron sights for aiming. The slide release and safety controls are set to the sides of the slide in the usual way. The pistol grip is well-contoured to better fit the hand and doubles as the magazine well, magazines inserted into the base. The grip section also contains the magazine release. The trigger is thin and is protected by a ring. Under the front end of the gun is a short section of rail for supporting various tactical accessories including aimers and flashlights.

The QX-04 is primary chambered for the 9x19mm Parabellum pistol cartridge but also comes in other chambered forms to support other popular rounds including 7.62x25mm Tokarev, .40 S&W and .45 ACP. Using these other cartridges requires changing out of certain major components including the barrel and magazine to accommodate the different sized rounds at play. In this way, the pistol is quite modular and ready to suit operator requirements. In any case, the semi-automatic function of the weapon relies on some sort of proven blowback action.
