The PGM Ultima Ratio is a bolt-action sniper rifle by PGM Precision of France. The type is of conventional form-and-function, serving as a modern sniping solution at the military and security levels. Major variants of the line include the "Intervention", "Commando I" and "Commando II", and the "Integral Silencieux" - all differing in barrel lengths, overall lengths, and operating weights. The rifle currently serves with Brazilian special forces, French counter-terrorism operatives, Israeli special forces, Lithuanian special forces, the Royal Moroccan Army, and the Slovenian Armed Forces.

Its external arrangement sees its mass concentrated at the center of the aluminum frame for optimal balance. The shoulder stock is fully-adjustable and collapsible to suit operator requirements while incorporating a cheek-rest, shoulder pad, and monopod. The pistol grip with two-stage trigger unit is slung under the frame and aft with the magazine well positioned just ahead. The bolt-handle sits to the right side of the body along with the ejection port and safety lever. A forend is set under the barrel which is partially shrouded in a Picatinny rail surround allowing for additional tactical accessories to be installed the shroud is such that it keeps the barrel "free-floating". Over the receiver is a longer length of rail for various optics sets. The barrel extends some distance away from the forend and is capped by an integrated, fixed conical recoil-reducing / flash-hiding muzzle brake (a suppressor is offered as optional). A hinged, adjustable bipod is mounted under the front end of the forend, folding forwards for travel. In its 7.62x51mm NATO chambering, the rifle accepts a five- or ten-round detachable box magazine.

While the rifle supports the mounting of optics for precision and accuracy at-range, it retains iron sights for backup purposes. Effective range of the weapon reaches out to 875 yards.

The Intervention model has a weight of 16.29lb and an overall length of 45.6 inches with its stock extended. The barrel assembly measures 23.6 inches long. Fluted barrels are featured in both the Commando I and Commando II marks while supporting a sound suppressor instead of a muzzle brake if desired. The Integral Silencieux is unique in having an integral suppressor at the barrel out-of-the-box.

The internal mechanism of the rifle relies on the trusted-and-true manually-actuated bolt-action system of operation. This requires the operator to move the bolt-action to clear the chamber and introduce a fresh cartridge, thereafter returning the bolt and closing the chamber. The versatility of the rifle's design is inherent in that a wide variety of chamberings are supported beyond the popular 7.62x51mm NATO full-powered rifle cartridge; other flavors are .300 Savage, 7mm-08 Remington, .260 Remington, 6.5x47mm Lapua, and 6mm Norma BR.
