The Zumwalt-class was once the future of United States Navy destroyer groups - however 29 of the planned 32 ships were cancelled.

The Zumwalt-class of stealth-minded guided missile destroyers was once the future of United States destroyer groups as some thirty total vessels were planned. A budgetary defense review then eliminated twenty-nine from the class leaving just three of the expensive, technology-laden ships in service. The class includes lead ship USS Zumwalt and her sisters USS Michael Monsoor and USS Lyndon B. Johnson.
