The Nimitz-class of the United States Navy forms the backbone of the modern American carrier fleet.
The United States fields the most powerful naval force on the planet and its largest collection of aircraft carriers. The Nimitz-class is made up of ten total aircraft carriers and all are nuclear-powered vessels capable of reaching any point of the world while fielding a variety of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft - up to 90 of various types. Since commissioned in 1975, the group has been used in a myriad of American campaigns where its potent strike group has been brought to bear.
