USS Montgomery made the news on October 4th. 2016 when a tug collided with the new warship during the escape from Hurricane Matthew. A crack developed at midships as well as other related nearby damage to the hull. The warship escaped with on-the-spot repairs in place but more formal repairs were ordered to deal with leaking.
