The Vietnam War proved one of the major battlefronts of the war between the East and the West.
The Vietnam War involved both elements of the East and West during the Cold War and became one of its longest running proxy-wars of the period. The result was a North Vietnam victory which resulting in the annexation of South Vietnam under the communist North control. The United States led the valiant defense of the South but the conflict soon spiraled out of control and interest at home waned. After nearly twenty years of fighting, the war finally came to a close on April 30th, 1975.
