Future Attack Reconnaissance Helicopters (FARA)

The United States Army terminated its FARA requirement in February of 2024 - effectively ending development of key submissions.

Set to be powered by the General Electric T901 turboshaft engine and reach speeds no less than 180 knots, FARA submissions include proposals from industry powerhouses Bell and Sikorsky. Prototype contracts are set to be awarded in 2020 with a direct fly-off between two competing designs held in 2023. First deliveries are hoped for 2028.
