Much like the fixed-wing airplane changed the face of war before it, the helicopter revolutionized the battlefield due to its unique inherent qualities.
The helicopter was debuted as early as World War 2 (1939-1945) but found its 'legs' in the fighting of the Korean War (1950-1953) where the mountainous terrain played well to its strengths. During the Vietnam Conflict (1955-1975), the Americans pushed their use even further and introduced the iconic 'Huey' line of transports. In time, many types were outfitted with a vast array of weaponry which broadened the type's battlefield value even further. Today, the helicopter touches every facet of our ongoing lives as they are used in such sectors as law enforcement, oil/gas industry, Search and Rescue (SAR) and MEDical EVACuation (MEDEVAC).
