Developed from the preceding Falcon 900, the Falcon 2000 is a business jet (BizJet) offering by Dassault Aviation of France and intended to compete in the lucrative VIP transport market. The variant has been in active production since 1995 with over 600 units manufactured for worldwide service. Operators include the Bulgarian Air Force, the Japan Coast Guard, the Slovenian Air Force and Air Defence service, the Republic of Korean Air Force (South Korea), the French Air and Space Force, and Royal Thai Police.

Other Falcon-related entries in this Dassault family include the Falcon 2000S, Falcon LXS, Falcon 900LX, Falcon 6X, Falcon 7X, and Falcon 8X. The Falcon 2000 benefits from Dassault's dedicated work with its military fighter line - currently headlined by the Rafale multi-role type.

The layout of the aircraft follows proven BizJet form with a low-mounted wing mainplane (featuring sweepback), conventional single-finned tail unit, and twin turbofan engine pairing held outboard on wingstubs near the rear of the airframe. The mainplanes feature winglets for fuel efficiency and added control. The flight deck seats its operating crew in a side-by-side arrangement with the control scheme duplicated for each crewman. The cockpit sits out over the short nosecone offering good vision. Ground-running is made possible by a retractable tricycle arrangement. Entry-exit is through a hinged fuselage side doorway just aft of the cockpit section - the cabin wall doubling as an in-built staircase.

The cockpit is an all modern affair seating both pilots in comfort. Control yokes are positioned just ahead of each crewman. Four large-area, full-color multi-function displays dominate the instrument panel with throttle and systems control shared between the two seats along a center console. The passenger cabin can be arranged to suit customer needs and offers luxuries expected of a bizjet of this class including galley, toilet, enlarged porthole-style windows for viewing and natural lighting, and relaxing leather-bound seats.

Dimensions include a running length of 66.3 feet, a wingspan of 63.4 feet, and a height of 23.1 feet. Empty weight is rated at 20,735lb.

The original model of 1994 is designated simply as Falcon 2000 and were featured wit CFE738-1-1B series turbofan engines. The Falcon 2000EX followed with a switch to the PW308C turbofan engine. The aircraft was marketed under the Falcon 2000EX EASy name and eventually given updated avionics and support systems.

The Falcon 2000DX arrived in 2007 and carried much of the EASy series enhancements. The variant is powered by a pair of reliable and proven Pratt & Whitney Canada (PWC) PW308C turbofan engines each producing 7,000lb of thrust, driving the aircraft to speeds of 530 miles-per-hour out to ranges of 3,740 miles. Its service ceiling reaches 50,000 feet. The aircraft's "legs" allow it to originate from Paris and reach out to New York in the West and Dubai in the East - making it useful for high profile clients. The Falcon 2000 is also known for its short-field take-off/landing and "hot-and-high" performance capabilities.

The Falcon 2000LX increased operational ranges with the most notable change being the addition of winglets to the mainplane tips. The Falcon 2000S arrived in 2011 with enhanced short-field performance and increased fuel efficiency. The Falcon 2000LXS of 2014 succeeds the 2000LX line and retains a long-range capability while including the short-field performance of the 2000S. The Falcon 2000 MSA is a dedicated maritime patrol form for military service, this entry based in the Falcon 2000 LXS. Similarly, the Falcon 2000 MRA is a reconnaissance-minded offering for military service, combining both maritime patrol and surveillance functionality in a more modern package.
