The Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) is a designation used by Boeing to cover business market/VIP jet airliners base upon the proven framework of the modern Model 737 twin-engined offering. Seating is typically reduced in these designs to better afford luxuries often associated with VIP passenger haulers. The base BBJ/BBJ1 is based in the Model 737-700 with its reinforced wing mainplane members and undercarriage. Operational ranges are enhanced through additional internal fuel tanks housed in the belly of the fuselage.

The subsequent BBJ2 and BBJ3 are based on the Model 737-800 and Model 737-900ER airframes, respectively. The BBJ C is the Model 737-700ER with full modularity depending on role required (passenger hauling, cargo duty, etc.). The BBJ MAX 8 and BBJ MAX 9 offerings are based in the Model 737 MAX 7, Model 737 MAX8 and Model 737 MAX 9 products with all of their included enhancements and performance figures. All three are powered by the CFM International LEAP turbofan engine.

The versatility of the BBJ has led to it being taken into service by a variety of military players.

October 2018 - Boeing announced the first-delivery of its BBJ MAX 8 series model to an unspecified customer.

December 2019 - To date, about 150 Boeing Business Jet aircraft (BBJ, BBJ2, and BBJ3 models collectively) have been delivered to customers.
