The Glock 23 was another "bridging" pistol attempting to combine the in-between .40 S&W caliber cartridge with a slightly modified frame designed specifically for improved concealment while retaining lightweight operating qualities comparable to those of a 9mm handgun. The Glock 23 was given a revised slide and frame and designed to fire the .40 S&W cartridge from its 13-round capacity magazine. Like other .40 S&W Glocks, the Model 23 has since gone on to prove valuable in service to American security and police forces.

Per the Glock company website, the Glock 23 also features optional 15- and 17-count magazines to replace the base 13-round. Overall length is 174mm (6.85 inches) while the barrel is 127mm (5 inches) in length. Barrel rifling is right-hand, hexagonal with a 250mm (9.84 inches) length of twist. The action is listed as recoil/double (safe action) with a 5.5lb trigger pull.
