Below is a display of several images of Hurricane
Katrina's aftermath in the New Orleans area. Photos are courtesy

How
do they name hurricanes?
This first batch of images are updated shots of the
water being pumping out of the city. The second pic is of the city on
September 7, whilst the one above it is the city as it appeared from
space on September 15, clearly showing several parts
of the city still submerged.

This next batch of images shows the coast of New Orleans
(looking south at the Gulf) before and after the storm. In the second
picture, you can clearly make out the submerged areas of the city
(noted as a darker gray).

This image, taken from NASA satellites gives one the
idea of just how large Hurricane Katrina was.
